Palmyrah Research Institute Building

Background During the recent disturbance of the country, the PRI building and equipments were badly damaged. The newly modernized Institute was formally opened on 20th July 2012 and begun to function normally.

However, with the help of the Sri Lankan Government the building was renovated.

The Indian Government provided the essential equipments, chemicals and other necessities.

The Research center comprises three divisions as Analytical Laboratory, Food & Technology Laboratory and Micro biological Laboratory.

A comprehensive Research Action Plan is being prepared for implementation. Vision Achieve excellence in the Palmyrah research for enhancing sector contribution to national economic development of Sri Lanka. Mission Enhancing the practice of research for the innovative technology transfer to develop, promote, popularize and regulate sustainability of Palmyrah industry to be a significant contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Sri Lanka.
